November 2007

Friday, November 2—Leave for Montreal. Meet with Montreal Friends. 6:00 p.m. potluck, followed by 7:00 p.m. presentation. The address is 1812 Baile, south of Ste-Catherine, west of St-Mathieu (between Atwater and Guy, north of Rene (home of Claire Adamson).

Saturday, November 3—Leave Montreal for Toronto via Canadian train, leaving at 9:40 a.m.

The address is 1090 W. 70th Ave. Ruah and Louis expect to take their first Peace For Earth Walk steps with Vancouver Friends, setting out from the Meeting House between 3:00 and 3:00 p.m. Walk about 11 miles to New Westminster for overnight lodging at Aggie & Tim's house. Wednesday, November 14—Walk about 5 miles to the Peace Arch border crossing, then another 10 miles into Washington state, to be hosted by Mimi Freshley and Bob Butterfield. Confirmed walkers: Ruah and Louis, accompanied part way by Mimi and Bob.

Thursday, November 15—Walk about 15 miles to Bellingham, to be hosted by Doris Ferm of Bellingham Friends Meeting.

Tuesday, November 27Meet with Duncan/Cowichan Friends and Earth Charter Group, hosted in Duncan.

Wednesday, November 28—Return to Victoria. Overnight stay hosted by Dana Griffiths.

Thursday, November 29—Meet with Saanich Peninsula Friends. Overnight stay hosted by Bob & Betty McInnes.

December 2007

Saturday, December 1—Take ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles, leaving 10:30 a.m., arriving at noon, to be met by Lisa Wiggins, Community Minister of the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Port Angeles. Lisa will walk the nine miles with Ruah and Louis to her home. Others may join.

Sunday, December 2—Meet with Olympic Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, 73 Howe Rd., Port Angeles. Ruah and Louis will speak during the 10:45 a.m. service, followed by 12:00 lunch. Address to be announced.

Sunday, December 2—Starting about 1:00 p.m., walk 6 to 8 miles from Port Angeles to Sequim, or the east side of Sequim (lodging to be arranged).

Monday, December 3—Starting at 10:15 a.m., walk 7 miles, with lunch break, to Jamestown S'Klallam Tribal Center. At 4:06 board Jefferson Transit #8 (to avoid hazards of walking on U.S. 101, or SR #20, which eliminates 18 miles of walking. Arrive at Port Townsend Park & Ride. 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., walk to Rosewind Cohousing Community (Umatilla, off San Juan). 6:00 p.m., informal welcoming at regular Monday evening Rosewind community common meal.

Tuesday, December 4—Personal time until 9:45 a.m. and during most of the afternoon (except for possible TV/press interviews). 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., brown bag lunch with Port Townsend Friends to welcome Ruah & Louis and discuss John Woolman. 6:00, evening potluck at Rosewind Co-housing Community for environmental and peace activists—a time for informal remarks/stories, with good food, conversations, maybe a little singing.

Wednesday, December 5—10:15 - 12:15 Walk/drive to PT-TV studio for interview. 12:15-1:45 p.m., brown bag lunch with a small group of environmental and peace activists, at a location to be announced. 5:00 p.m., dinner at location to be announced. Contact Bob Schultz, phone 360/379-3397.

From 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., walk to the First Presbyterian Church, 1111 Franklin. 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., program on "Taking Earthcare to Heart." There will also be "tabling" in the entry hall by local peace and environmental organizations. 7:00 p.m., presentation by Ruah & Louis. 8:00 p.m., panel with Ruah & Louis and local activists; 8:45, adjourn, greet neighbors, and visit literature tables.

Thursday, December 6—Starting about 8:00 a.m., walk 9 miles (at 2 miles an hour) from Fairbanks home to the home of Jeff & Hazel Johnson, 611 Irondale Rd. (via Larry Scott Trail, etc.). 6:00 p.m., Quaker potluck "send-off' (no program).

Friday, December 7—Starting at 7:30 a.m., walk 2 miles to Oak Bay County Park to meet companion walkers; then at 8:15 to 1 p.m., walk 8 miles (at 2 miles per hour with 1-hour lunch stop), from Oak Bay to Port Ludlow (Oak Bay Rd. at Swansonville Rd.)—probably joined at Oak Bay Park by companion walkers. 1 to 5 p.m. rest at Adele Govert's. 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., walk to Beach Club at Ludlow Bay Village. 6:00 p.m.-8:45 p.m., program on "Taking Earthcare to Heart," with Jefferson County Democrats as hosts. (6:00 reception and "tabling"; 7:00 presentation by R & L; 8:00 dessert potluck and conversation; 8:45 p.m. pickup for drive to and across Hood Canal Bridge (no pedestrians allowed) by Michael Moore of Agate Passage Friend Meeting, to lodge with Meeting member Diane Carle.
